“Let’s make Kimchi” said I to the housemate.
“Sure!” came the reply.
While there wasn’t an actual urge to eat Kimchi that triggered this sudden outburst, I think I can trace my need to make this magical food to the reading of Ellie’s blog: Kitchen Wench. Reading her blog just makes me start drooling, and I find myself mysteriously needing (not just wanting!) to make the things that she share on the blog. Such is the magnetic power of Ellie’s blog posts.

Yummy, yummy kimchi all ready to go!

I’m all out of Kimchi now, I add the last of it a few days ago as a Kimchi Jigae aka Spicy Kimchi Stew. I couldn’t stop eating it! Plus it’s perfect for this sudden winter-like weather we seem to be having in Melbourne now. Crazy weather.
Do try to make it! It’s absolutely fabulous!

Ohhh, that looks to die for! Somehow the idea of making it myself terrifies me though. Kinda like how the idea of yeast scares me.

I’m a bit afraid of using yeast too! It seems so temperamental. But Kimchi is easy , nice and non temperamental! XD
I made soonduboo jigae today for lunch. Then there was this kimchi post! Nice kimchi! Another place where you can get authentic korean recipes is maangchi.com.

we had a kim chi craze too when we followed a korean friend to a mart..went shopping for all kind of sauces and kimchis too!
I was doing that too then I decided to make my own. Now I can’t go buy the shop ones anymore XD
those photos make me salivate lol. mb also coz they look super hot too! looks exactly like the ones from the korean stores…love the red in the 2nd photo!

Great pictures! I read this article (http://www.economist.com/node/17204655?story_id=17204655&fsrc=rss) about how Kim Chi making is being threatened in South Korea due to soaring cabbage prices.
It’s lucky there is no ‘cabbage crisis’ here in Australia!
I heard that when the country ran out of cabbage, it was a national crisis and they had to import more from other countries. Their dedication to the national food is amazing!

Looks awesome! I’m only really familiar with one type of kimchi but saw a Korean travel show where they made dozens of different types – some so different I wouldn’t recognise them as kimchi as I know it. Looks pretty easy – I should make some at home too!
